Finding & Vetting Suppliers
How to find a real factory, verify it, and set up OEM / private-label production.
01.1
Finding a reliable water purifier supplier in China means verifying manufacturing capability, QC systems, and export track record — not just comparing quotes. The cheapest quote usually hides the most risk.
01.2
A factory audit is an on-site assessment of a manufacturer's capability, quality system, and export readiness — the due-diligence step that separates real factories from trading companies.
01.3
OEM means the factory builds your design under your brand. ODM means you pick the factory's existing design and put your brand on it. The choice decides your tooling cost, timeline, and who owns what.
01.4
MOQ (minimum order quantity) is the smallest order a factory will run. It exists because line changeovers, material purchasing, and QC setup cost the same whether you order 500 or 5,000 units.
QC & Inspection
What to check before the container leaves — membranes, fittings, TDS, pressure tests.
02.1
AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) inspection is a statistical sampling method: instead of checking every unit, inspectors pull a defined sample and accept or reject the lot based on defects found. It is the standard language of pre-shipment inspection.
02.2
The RO membrane is the most expensive single component in the system — and the hardest to verify visually. Membrane QC is about paperwork plus targeted functional testing, not just counting boxes.
02.3
Rejection rate = (feed TDS − product TDS) ÷ feed TDS × 100%. It is the single most practical field metric for RO performance — measurable in 60 seconds with a calibrated TDS pen.
02.4
Leaks are the #1 field complaint for RO systems — and most originate in quick-connect fittings and O-ring seals, not the housings. Fitting QC is cheap insurance against expensive returns.
02.5
A hydrostatic test pressurizes the water path (housings, fittings, tubing) with water to 500 PSI — roughly 5× normal operating pressure — and holds it to verify nothing leaks, weeps, or deforms.
02.6
An RO spec sheet is only as honest as its test conditions. This guide shows which numbers matter, which need context, and which are marketing.
Certifications by Market
Which certificates your RO system needs for the USA and Europe.
03.1
The USA has no single mandatory federal certificate for RO systems, but the market enforces its own: NSF/ANSI 58 for the system, NSF/ANSI 42 for taste/odor claims, and FDA food-contact compliance for wetted materials.
03.2
Europe regulates through CE marking plus substance and food-contact rules. The exact directives depend on your product's features — there is no one-size-fits-all certificate list.
Logistics & After-Sales
Incoterms, lead times, mixed containers, and handling defects after delivery.
04.1
Incoterms decide who pays for what — and, more importantly, who bears the risk at each handoff. For first-time importers, the wrong term is how goods get stuck at ports.
04.2
Lead time is the gap between your deposit/payment confirmation and the goods being ready for inspection. Underestimating it is how selling seasons get missed.
04.3
Some defects only surface after installation — a small percentage is normal in manufacturing. What separates good suppliers is the process for handling them, agreed before shipment.
04.4
Private label means the factory's proven platform with your brand, packaging, and configuration. Done right, it is the fastest path from idea to selling — typically weeks, not months.
04.5
A mixed container combines multiple SKUs — or multiple suppliers' goods — into one FCL shipment. Done well, it cuts per-unit freight cost; done badly, it creates a sorting nightmare at destination.
