← Technology WikiQuick-Connect Fittings
Quick-connect (push-fit) fittings join RO tubing without tools — push the tube in to lock, press the collet to release; they are the reason RO systems are installer-friendly.
How it works
- Stainless-steel teeth grip the tube; an O-ring seals. Correct insertion depth is critical.
- Standard sizes: 1/4" and 3/8" — match to your tubing OD exactly.
- Most field leaks trace to tubes cut at an angle or not pushed fully home — not to the fitting itself.
- Food-grade POM or brass bodies; check pressure rating matches system max.
Key specifications
| Sizes | 1/4", 3/8" |
| Mechanism | Push-fit, collet release |
| Bodies | POM / brass, food-grade |
| Common failure | Bad tube cut, not fitting |
What buyers and QC should check
- For installer training: the 'push-twice' habit (push, tug-check, push again) eliminates most callbacks.
- For QC: pressure-test every connection point, not just the system as a whole.

Are quick-connect fittings reliable long-term?
Yes, when correctly installed with square-cut tube — they're standard in millions of installed systems. The failure mode is almost always installation, not the fitting.
