← Buyer GuidesMOQ for Water Purifier Factories: What to Expect
MOQ (minimum order quantity) is the smallest order a factory will run. It exists because line changeovers, material purchasing, and QC setup cost the same whether you order 500 or 5,000 units.
Key points
- MOQs are typically lower for standard ODM models and higher for custom OEM designs with new tooling.
- Packaging and private-label printing often have their own MOQs (carton printing plates, label runs).
- A factory that accepts tiny quantities with no questions may be a trading company — or desperate. Both deserve scrutiny.
- Negotiate on mix, not just volume: 3 models × 500 units is often easier for a factory than 1 model × 1,500.
- We don't promise the lowest MOQ in the industry — we promise an MOQ your QC plan can actually support.
Action checklist
- Ask for MOQ per model AND per color/packaging variant — they differ.
- Confirm whether the MOQ includes spare parts (aim for 1–2% spares).
- Check if trial orders below MOQ are possible at a surcharge.
- Get the price breaks in writing (e.g., 500 / 1,000 / 3,000 units).
- Make sure your first order is big enough to justify a pre-shipment inspection.
Common questions
Why won't factories do 100 units?
Setup costs: line changeover, QC calibration, packaging plate-making, and material minimums from their own suppliers. Below a certain quantity, your order loses them money even at a higher unit price.
Can I combine models to reach MOQ?
Often yes. Factories commonly accept mixed-model orders where each model meets a smaller minimum. Ask — the published MOQ is usually the starting point of the conversation, not the end.
